Catering

We pride ourselves on the standard of our catering within school.

Alison our cook has won several awards including Best Newcomer/CBS Award 2005, Outstanding Achievement Award/CBS for School Meals in 2006, CBS Consistently High Achiever Award 2010. Our school has a hygiene rating of 5.

The school has a very good reputation for its school meals, cooked on the premises. Children can also order a school packed lunch bag. We are a ‘Cheshire Healthy School’ and we follow the County’s guidelines on healthy eating.

Children are also able to bring a packed lunch into school instead of having a school meal. We would encourage parents to pack a ‘healthy’ lunch. Please make sure that it is in a named container. These are eaten at the same time as the meals are served.

Our dinner tables allow for mixed age children on them, it enables the older children to get to know the reception children and to provide for them, thus promoting the essential Astbury Family bonding.

We also participate in the National Fruit Scheme, which provides free fruit to Key Stage 1 children at break time.

All children in reception, Year 1 and Year 2  have a free school meal everyday they are in school thanks to the Government.

A school dinner costs £2.40 a day, and for this, pupils can expect a hot or cold meal of their choice, accompanied by fruit/salad and a dessert.
